Joe Vitti, a Valley VOTE member since 1998, was elected President in 2003. He has guided Valley VOTE’s members and committees in developing positions and preparing reports on key quality-of-life issues facing Valley residents and the citizens of Los Angeles. Joe has been a major driver behind Valley VOTE’s mission, to “empower the people of the San Fernando Valley and the City of Los Angeles to improve local governance, education and public participation on policy matters.”Vitti expanded the format of Valley VOTE monthly meetings to include featured guest speakers who inform and educate the membership on matters of local current interest. Since 2003, more than 100 political leaders have spoken at Valley VOTE monthly meetings. Also during this period, Valley VOTE issued numerous white papers and press releases on positions of importance to its constituency. Joe earned an MS degree from UCLA in 1961 and is a California-licensed Professional Engineer in Nuclear Engineering. He retired after a successful career as a Manager at Atomics International in Canoga Park and as an Owner/Director of a valley school business. He lives in Granada Hills and has three children and six grandchildren, all of whom live in the Los Angeles area.
